Treatment Delivery Options

Face-to-face Consultations

We offer individual treatment sessions at our practice in Paddington, Brisbane.

Face-to-face therapy is a traditional personal form of therapy that allows us as therapists to observe your non-verbal communication (for example, the expressions on your face, the way you are sitting) to get a deeper understanding of what you are saying.

Mental Health Care Plan

To access mental health treatment under Medicare you must be referred by your GP, a psychiatrist, or a pediatrician. If a GP is the referring practitioner he or she will need to prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan before referring you to a psychologist. You should book a longer session with your GP to enable time for this.

Individuals diagnosed with a mental health disorder can access up to 10 individual and 10 group treatment sessions per year.

Please see the factsheet for further information.

COVID-19 Additional Support

From 9 October 2020 until 30 June 2022, 10 additional individual psychological therapy sessions are available each calendar year to all eligible patients under the existing Better Access to Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and General Practitioners through the MBS (Better Access) initiative.

Please see the factsheet for further information.

Telehealth Consultations

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is the provision of medical care services, such as psychology consultations, using technology, such as video conferencing, instead of traditional face-to-face methods. Our telehealth service is secure and discreet and our psychologists can listen and help support you or your loved one with their therapy needs.

Benefits of telehealth

Improves your access as a patient to health care services. Removes the time, expense and inconvenience of travelling to a health care facility.

Allows greater flexibility and convenience for both you the patient and the health care professional to schedule and attend sessions. Enables a highly discreet environment for you to attend mental health care sessions.

Covid-19 temporary changes

Commencing 13 March 2020 and extending until 31 December 2021, temporary Medicare telehealth items have been made available to help reduce the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 and provide protection for patients and health care providers. These items allow people to access essential Medicare-funded health services in their homes and reduce their risk of exposure to COVID-19 within the community. All Medicare-eligible Australians can receive these services.

Please see the factsheet for further information.

People in rural and remote areas

Our practice is based in Brisbane. If you live in an eligible rural or remote area you have the option to receive a Medicare rebate for our telehealth services under Medicare’s Better Access Telehealth Services program.

You will need to visit your GP for a Mental Health Care Plan which allows 10 rebate-eligible telehealth-delivered psychology sessions per calendar year. Only your GP and our approved practice staff will see your plan.

Please see the factsheets for further information or check online here to find out if you are eligible.
